The OHGG Quality Standards Committee is pleased to announce that we are finally ready to proceed with inspections for those growers who are seeking the OHGG Quality Assurance designation. Hopefully the process is not complicated and will proceed smoothly since this is our first year and with limited inspectors to start.
The process begins with the grower self‐assessing with all of the mandatory items, highlighted in blue, in our OHGG Quality Standards manual (copies separately attached) that the grower will actually be responsible to perform. In other words if a grower is not pelletizing their own hops they are not required to meet the mandatory requirement except to insure whoever does the pelletizing has been approved by the OHGG Quality Standards Committee.
The next step would be to email Dan Hoy, the current chair of the Quality Standards Committee, with your name, farm name, full address, phone number and email address. The grower will then be contacted by an inspector to schedule an on‐site inspection.
The entire process can be seen in The OHGG Quality Standards Instructions found on page 2 of the manual.
Several Mandatory items described in the manual could be provided at the initial request in the form of PDF, fax or picture. This would be preferred. Those items include the following:
A.1 Copies of Farm Records
A.2 Copy of Farm Insurance policy covering product liability.
A.3 Copy of ODA Pesticide Applicators license.
A.4 Copy of ODA Fertilizer Applicators license (> 50 acres only)
A.5 Hop Growers of America / USA Hops Grower number
B.1 Copies of any Water Tests, if applicable.
B.2 Statement regarding the use of untreated sewage and/or manure, if any
C.1 Copy of Pesticide Log
E.1 Copy of Soil test
We would also like to know who will be responsible for your drying, bailing (if bailed), whole cone packaging, pelletizing and pelletized package & labeling.
If you have any questions feel free to contact any of the OHGG Quality Standards Committee members.
